Lied's January shows to feature dinos, acrobats, singers

Prehistoric creatures, daring acrobats and a singing Austrian family are coming to the Lied Center for Performing Arts in January.

Tickets are on sale here, by phone at 402-472-4747 or at the Lied Center box office, 301 N. 12th St. University of Nebraska-Lincoln students can purchase tickets at a 50 percent discount with a valid NCard.

January shows are:

“Erth’s Dinosaur Zoo Live,” Jan. 8, 7 p.m. – This show takes audience members on a breathtaking tour of prehistoric Australia with lifelike dinosaurs and other creatures. FamFest, featuring food and fun educational activities for the whole family, will precede the performance at 5:30 p.m. It is free to ticket holders.
“The Sound of Music,” Jan. 12, 7:30 p.m.; Jan. 13, 2 and 7:30 p.m.; Jan. 14, 1:30 and 7 p.m. – This new production of the beloved musical story of Maria and the Von Trapp family features a Tony-, Grammy- and Academy Award-winning best score, including “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Edelweiss” and the title song.
“STREB: Sea,” Jan. 25, 7:30 p.m. – Created by Elizabeth Streb, this daredevil event weaves dance, athletics, cirque acrobatics and Hollywood-style stunt work into an exciting live performance. Following a sold-out performance at the Lied Center in 2014, STREB returns with its new production, “Sea” — a kaleidoscope of action, music and human bodies daring to defy the laws of gravity.
“Manhattan Transfer Meets Take 6,” Jan. 27, 7:30 p.m. – With 20 Grammy Awards between them, these two iconic groups have joined forces as The Summit. They will showcase crystal-clear harmonies, syncopated rhythms and rich gospel sounds.
