Love Library will celebrate Retro Gaming: Love Data Week with an interactive and educational exhibit that runs from Feb. 10-14.
Laptops set up in the Love Library Link will feature retro arcade games ranging from LSD: Dream Emulators to Dr. Mario. Visitors are welcome to drop by anytime to play.
Each day from 1-2 p.m., a student will be selected to face off against a library staff member.
The exhibit will also feature two talks at the Link. “Game Software Preservation, Emulation and Copyright,” held 2 p.m. Feb. 11, will discuss the history and challenges of preserving software. “Game Cartridge Backup Demonstration,” held 2 p.m. Feb. 13, will demonstrate how to back up game and files to specialty hardware. Both talks aim to help preserve retro gaming and recognize its importance to the history of technology.
Questions about the exhibit can be sent to Joan Barnes, associate professor of practice with University Libraries, at jbarnes3@unl.edu or 402-472-6987.
