“Lucha Mexico” and “Wiener-Dog” will be showing at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center from July 15 through 21.
“Lucha Mexico” is a headlong dive into the world of masked superheroes and villains.
In Mexico, the war between good and evil has been waged each week for decades, thrilling generations of fans with the spectacle of Lucha Libre. Masked wrestlers work tirelessly to entertain their legions of fans.
Gaining unprecedented access to the largest Lucha federations, directors Alex Hammond and Ian Markiewicz offer an entertaining look at some of the sport’s top performers. The film goes behind the mysterious mask to explore one of the most cherished traditions of Mexican culture.
“Wiener-Dog” follows the wayward adventures of a dachshund who passes from one oddball owner to the next. But all the owners lives are impacted by the dog.
The film features an all-star cast including Greta Gerwig, Julie Delpy, Danny DeVito, Ellen Burstyn and Zosia Mamet.
