“Making History,” an exhibition that showcases the work of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s School of Art, Art History and Design’s “Making History” ceramics class, will be on display Nov. 20 through Dec. 1 in the Eisentrager•Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.
A First Friday closing reception will be 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 1 in the gallery.
This class, composed of graduate students and upper level undergraduates in the ceramics program, studied the history of ceramic art by not only researching, but also recreating historical ceramic objects.
The goal for this exhibition is to create a physical space in which one can explore the relationships of objects across time periods and cultures, from the sixth millennium B.C.E. up to the early 20th century, including objects from Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas. Students have provided contextual information about each of the objects represented in the exhibition.
Graduate students participating in the exhibition include Neil Celani, Katherine Cox, Patrick Hargraves, Wansoo Kim, Patrick Kingshill and Iren Tete. Undergraduate students participating include Brandon Cain, Kyle Cippera, Austin Coudriet, Madelyne Hansen. Megan Harrell, Connor Harter, Katherine Kramer, Audrey Jurek, Sarah Loeffler and Keli Wheeler
Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
