A composition by Nebraska alumnus Kurt Knecht will be featured in a 7:30 p.m. Jan. 19 organ recital in Kimball Hall.
The recital, led by Christopher Marks, associate professor of music and associate dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts, will end with Knecht’s composition. The piece, “Toccata, Adagio, and Fugue,” was commissioned by the Organ Historical Society in commemoration of its 60th anniversary. It was premiered by Marks and Dave Hall, professor of percussion, in Philadelphia in June 2016.
The title of Knecht’s composition was inspired by a Johann S. Bach piece of the same name. Marks will open the recital by performing the Bach composition.
Other University of Nebraska–Lincoln faculty joining the performance are Hall, John Bailey, Jeff McCray, Greg Beaver and Rebecca Fischer.
The performance is free and open to the public. It will also be streamed live online. For more information, click here.
