The Friends of Maxwell Arboretum will hold a spring celebration from 4:30 to 6 p.m. May 17 in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Earl G. Maxwell Arboretum.
The theme for the family-friendly celebration is “Nature’s Art.” Events include children’s activities, a nature’s art trail and a tree planting. Free Dairy Store ice cream and popcorn from the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture will be provided. There will also be opportunities to talk with tree and insect experts and other plant specialists.
The event will feature booths and displays from the Friends of Maxwell Arboretum, University Gardens, Nebraska Sustainability and Nebraska Recycling, Garden Friends, Nebraska Department of Agriculture, Lincoln Public Schools Science Focus Program, Keim Hall Herbarium, Guild of Scientific Illustrators, International Quilt Study Center and Museum, Morrill Hall, Lincoln Parks and Recreation, Nebraska Forest Service, Nebraska Statewide Arboretum and Capital City Carvers.
The arboretum is located immediately north of 38th and Holdrege streets on East Campus. Parking is available in the University of Nebraska Medical Center Dental College parking lot, the East Campus Loop and areas near the Dairy Store.
