The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s renovation of the Pershing Military and Naval Sciences Building will temporary close a stretch of 14th Street on Oct. 21-22. The work will be completed during the university’s fall break, allowing for minimal impact on the campus community.
The closure along 14th Street, immediately north of Vine Street to the entrance to the Campus Recreation Center, will allow for the placement of a crane to install new equipment on the roof of the Pershing building. No vehicle traffic will be allowed in the area. The sidewalk on the west side of 14th Street will be open for pedestrian traffic.
The project is expected to impact StarTran bus services, with stops at 14th and Avery; Vine and Henzlik Hall; and Vine and Hawks Hall closed Oct. 21-22. Bus routes 24-Holdrege and 25-Vine will operate. Route 22-NIC will not be in service due to reduced activity during fall break.

Funded through LB384, passed by the Nebraska Legislature in 2021, the renovation of Pershing Military and Naval Science includes heating/cooling system upgrades and necessary changes related to the Americans with Disabilities Act.
