Morrill Hall offers free Thursday night admission in February


The University of Nebraska State Museum in Morrill Hall will offer visitors free admission from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23.

Additional activities on Thursday evenings include Pop-In Story Time: Barnyard from 6:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 2. Through stories, songs and movement, visitors will learn more about the natural world.

Also, the “Shaping Watersheds” augmented reality sandbox is available from 5 to 8 p.m. each Thursday in February. “Shaping Watersheds” is a temporary interactive augmented reality 3D exhibit that provides an understanding and enhances stewardship of freshwater lake ecosystems. Visitors create topography models by shaping sand, which is augmented in real time with a graphic projection from overhead. The visitor can interact with the augmented reality to simulate water and rainfall.

The University of Nebraska State Museum at Morrill Hall, south of 14th and Vine streets, is the state’s premier museum of natural history. The museum is focused on promoting discovery in natural science, fostering scientific understanding and interpretation of Earth’s past, present and future and enhancing stewardship of the natural and cultural heritage of the state through world class exhibits, collections and special events.
