Nebraska’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center will host a National Theatre Live showing of “Present Laughter” on July 25 and 28.

Offered by the Royal National Theatre in London, the series offers broadcasts of live performances via satellite to cinema and art centers around the world.

“Present Laughter” is a multi-award-winning, provocative comedy written by Noël Coward. The Royal National Theatre production features Andrew Scott as Garry Essendine, a colorful star actor who is embarking on an overseas tour as his life is on the cusp of spiraling out of control. His last few days at home are a chaotic whirlwind of love, relationships, panic and a bit of soul-searching.

“Present Laughter,” which is rated PG and has a three-hour run time, was filmed live from The Old Vic in London during a sold out run in 2019.

Showtimes at the Ross are 7:15 p.m. July 25 and 1 p.m. July 28. Ticket prices are $24 general admission; $22 senior citizens; $17 Ross members, students and military; and $5 for University of Nebraska–Lincoln, Nebraska Wesleyan, Union College and Southeast Community College students.
