Winter in Nebraska doesn’t lend itself to gardening, but plant enthusiasts can still learn about all things gardening as they bide the time until spring.
The Nebraska Statewide Arboretum will offer the that opportunity with three free Plant Talk webinars in January and February. All talks will be presented via Zoom, and registration is required.
The dates are as follows:
Noon, Jan. 26, Plant Talk: The State of Nebraska’s Forests — John Erixson, Nebraska State Forester, will bring participants up to speed on the state of Nebraska’s forests and what the future looks like, particularly in the aftermath of last summer’s fires.
Noon, Feb. 9, Plant Talk: Ask Justin and Bob — This Q&A will feature Justin Evertson, NSA green infrastructure coordinator, and Bob Henrickson, NSA Horticulture Program coordinator, who will be available to answer participants’ questions about trees, plants, gardening and everything in between.
Noon, Feb. 23, Plant Talk: The Winter Garden — Sarah Buckley, NSA sustainable landscape coordinator, will help participants learn how to appreciate the beauty of the winter landscape. She’ll also offer ways to keep their hands busy during the long winter months and suggestions for how to keep wildlife front and center.
The talks are free and open to the public. Each session will also be recorded, and the recordings will be emailed to registrants following the real time Zoom event.
