University of Nebraska–Lincoln Information Technology Services and University of Nebraska Online are partnering with EDUCAUSE, to present the 2019 Women Advance IT Leadership Conference, Nov. 5-6 at Nebraska Innovation Campus.

Now in its fifth year, the conference draws more than 350 participants from higher education, business and technology fields. The theme for the 2019 conference is “Disruption,” with presentations that encourage inclusiveness and continued education in improving diversity. Open to the public, registration is available online.

“I’m excited about this collaboration with EDUCAUSE for this year’s Women Advance IT Leadership Conference,” said Mark Askren, UNL’s former vice chancellor and chief information officer. “Our combined resources will help elevate this event and shine a spotlight on the importance of creating more opportunities for women in IT.”

EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association and community of technology, academic, industry and campus leaders working to advance higher education through the use of information technology. The association helps those who lead, manage and use information technology to shape strategic decisions at every level, and actively engages with colleges and universities, corporations, foundations, government, and other nonprofit organizations to further the mission of transforming higher education through the use of information technology.

“We believe in diversity, equity, and inclusion at EDUCAUSE, and we have a strong sense of urgency when it comes to advancing women in IT at all levels, especially in leadership positions,” said John O’Brien, president and chief executive officer of EDUCAUSE. “We’re thrilled to partner with the University of Nebraska for this fantastic event.”

The 2019 Women Advance IT Leadership Conference will focus on how change is made in organizations, companies and campuses. Presentations will encourage inclusiveness and continued education in improving diversity and inclusion, growing future leaders, and adding more women in IT fields.

“Every year we continue to grow the Women Advance IT conference, and now, with the support of EDUCAUSE, we know that this is going to be our best year yet,” said Marcia Dority Baker, conference co-chair and assistant director of academic technologies with Information Technology Services.
