Two foreign dramas, “Never Look Away” and “The Heiresses,” open March 1 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center.
“Never Look Away”
The German drama “Never Look Away” tells the story of a young art student, Kurt, who falls in love with fellow student Ellie despite her father’s disapproval. Inspired by real events, the film spans three eras of German history and earned an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
“Never Look Away” is rated R for graphic nudity, sexuality and brief violent images. It plays through March 14.
“The Heiresses”
“The Heiresses” follows Chela and Chiquita, both descendants of wealthy families in Paraguay. When their financial situation worsens and Chiquita is imprisoned on fraud charges, Chela is forced to face a new reality by becoming a cab driver and embarking on a personal transformation.
“The Heiresses” plays through March 7.
