Services for Students with Disabilities is launching a new online system designed to streamline the process of working with students’ accommodation plans. The Accessible Information Management System, or AIM, can be accessed with UNL single sign-on credentials.
Instructors will be able to see their students’ accommodation plans and set up alternative testing agreements (alternative testing agreements are only necessary when instructors and faculty wish to have the SSD Testing Center proctor paper exams). Rather than manually communicating with students via email, AIM offers a centralized platform for students and instructors alike to always be on the same page about accommodations.
“AIM is going to simplify this process for everyone on campus,” Barb Woodhead, director of Services for Students with Disabilities, said. “Our goal is that students will feel more comfortable asking for what they need for equitable access, and instructors will find it easier to provide that experience.”
Students are still responsible for contacting the SSD office to create their accommodation plan. Once the plan is finalized and the student has registered for classes, the finalized plan will be sent to the student’s instructors for the upcoming semester via AIM.
