New software to change how instructors connect students, support staff

CAST and Academic Navigators are available to help support student success

CAST and Academic Navigators are available to help support student success

In January 2023, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will launch the Student Success Hub as the campus student support software in replacement of MyPLAN. Student Success Hub will allow student support staff to easily communicate with students, maintain student records and manage staff calendars for student appointments.

In lieu of the flag and referral functions currently available in MyPLAN, instructors will be able to share concerns about students’ academic performance to the new Academic Navigator team.

The Academic Navigator team supports students who show early signs of falling off track in their coursework, working one-on-one with students to identify and make appropriate referrals to campus and community resources. Referrals to the Academic Navigator team can be made here.

Consider referring to the AN team if a student:

  • Is experiencing multiple or persistent obstacles to their success at Nebraska U
  • Misses an exam
  • Has excessive absences or has stopped attending class
  • Fails to submit homework assignments or complete work in Canvas

In addition to the Academic Navigator team, the Center for Academic Success and Transition (CAST) is available to help students hone their academic skills. CAST success coaches provide workshops and work one-on-one with students who:

  • Need to brush up on study skills
  • Need help managing their time
  • Are experiencing issues on tests or with test anxiety
  • Lack motivation in their classes
