Providing protected writing time and centralized proposal development support for faculty submitting proposals to the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program is the goal of a June 27-29 event. Registration is required.
The inaugural NSF CAREER Award Club is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Prem S. Paul Research Center at Whittier School, 2200 Vine St., with lunch and light refreshments available. Attendees may come and go as their schedules and needs permit. The club is open to University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty submitting CAREER proposals this year or in the future. All faculty and administrators interested in early career development programs are encouraged to attend.
The event, hosted by the Office of Research and Economic Development, will provide CAREER applicants with quiet writing spaces and access to expertise in NSF’s CAREER program, proposal preparation and budget development, including a graphic artist and program evaluation specialist. The Office of Research and Economic Development designed the club as a follow-on to the Early CAREER Workshop held in March.
The club also will feature lunch presentations catering to early career faculty, departmental executive officers and associate deans for research. Topics include the influence of NSF CAREER awards on recipients’ professional trajectories, competitive intelligence for preparing successful CAREER proposals and early career development programs at agencies beyond NSF. Kathie Olsen, founder and managing director of ScienceWorks, will attend the club and be available to interact with faculty one-on-one.
