The University of Nebraska announced Aug. 8 the launch of a Voluntary Separation Incentive Program for eligible tenured faculty.
The program is open to tenured faculty who will be at least 62 and have completed at least 10 years of service as of date of separation. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 30. Decisions will be made on an individual basis with approval from the Office of the Chancellor.
Dr. Jeffrey P. Gold, president of the NU system, said in the email announcement that the initiative reflects a commitment to strategic planning and thoughtful stewardship of resources, while also offering a flexible retirement option for senior faculty.
“The VSIP provides a meaningful pathway for those considering retirement, while allowing the university to reinvest in key priorities and prepare for future challenges,” Gold said.
