A paper on the history of the Ogallala Aquifer has earned the “Best Paper Award” from the Geoscience Information Society. The paper, “The Ogallala Aquifer in Nebraska: Gray Literature (1891-2010),” was written Adonna Fleming, Leslie M. Delserone and Elaine Nowick, all with the University Libraries.
The work was published in 2012 in volume 13 of the Journal of Agricultural and Food Information.
Members of the award selection committee said the paper was a timely discussion of the issues involved in compiling an Ogallala Aquifer bibliography. They also cited the importance of gray literature to the topic and its lack of representation in the library and digital information worlds.
