A scheduled electrical outage will affect multiple buildings on the University of Nebraska–Lincoln City Campus from 3 to 5 a.m. May 12 (or until work is completed).

The outage is required for upgrades to the campus’s primary electrical feeds. The project will convert electrical services from overhead to underground connections and add an additional supply connection to improve campuswide resiliency and reliability.

Work is being completed by Lincoln Electric System in collaboration with University Operations’ Husker Energy and Power and Building Systems Maintenance teams.

Affected buildings will experience a loss of electrical power during the outage. Facilities equipped with emergency backup generators will continue operating in a limited capacity. Street access near the City Campus utility plant at 13th and Avery streets will be limited during the outage.

Buildings affected by the outage include: 501 Building; Alexander Building; Andrews Hall; Architecture Hall; Behlen Laboratory; Benton Hall; Bessey Hall; Brace Laboratory; Burnett Hall; Canfield Administration North; Canfield Administration South; Carolyn Pope Edwards Hall; Cornhuskers Athletic Complex; Fairfield Hall; Henzlik Hall; Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center; Kauffman Academic Residential Center; Kimball Recital Hall; Love Library North; Love Library South; Louise Pound Hall; Manter Hall; Memorial Stadium North; Morrill Hall; Mueller Tower; Nebraska Union; Oldfather Hall; Outdoor Adventure Center; Pershing Military and Naval Science Building; Richards Hall; Schorr Center; Seaton Hall; Selleck Quadrangle; Sheldon Museum of Art; Stadium Drive Parking Garage; State Historical Society; Teachers College Hall; University Health Center (old); Westbrook Music Building; Wick Alumni Center; and Woods Art Building.

This is the first phase of a two-phase project. Work on the second phase is planned for July, with the date and time to be announced.
