University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman will deliver his final State of the University address to faculty, staff, students and interested visitors on Sept. 30. The address begins at 11 a.m. at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, 301 N. 12th St.

The speech traditionally outlines university priorities for the coming year while addressing major accomplishments during the previous academic year. This year’s address will be Perlman’s 16th and last; he announced in April he would step down as chancellor on June 30, 2016.

Faculty and staff being honored for service milestones will be recognized during the annual employee service award recognition program beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the Lied Center, and the annual all-employee picnic outside Lied will follow the address. R Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from 13th street to 12th Street for the picnic.

The speech will be streamed live at http://unl.edu and at http://go.unl.edu/udsw and televised on Lincoln cable channel 80. KRNU Radio (90.3 FM) also will broadcast the address.

Campus shuttles will be available beginning at 8:45 a.m. on East Campus, picking up from Agriculture Hall, College of Law and Animal Science, and transporting people to City Campus to the 13th Street bus stop on the east side of the Van Brunt Visitors Center. Buses will continue this route until 11:45 a.m. Beginning at 12:30 p.m., they will run this route in reverse, picking up at the 13th Street bus stop and returning to Agriculture Hall, the College of Law and Animal Science until 2:30 p.m.

Human Resources will distribute the employee service awards in the Johnny Carson Theater, located on the west side of the Lied Center for Performing Arts. At 9 a.m., coffee and rolls will be available on the Orchestra level of the Lied Center for employees picking up service awards.
