Police receive fourth accreditation; seek feedback from campus

The department was first accredited in 2015 and remains the only university law enforcement agency accredited in Nebraska.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department received accreditation for the fourth consecutive time from the Commission of Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies. The department was first accredited in 2015 and received reaccreditation in 2018, 2022 and now 2026.

The department voluntarily participates with the commission in the accreditation process. This process helps UNLPD follow best practices in law enforcement and maintain the highest level of service to the campus community.

Besides gathering and providing crime statistics the accreditation process also includes giving the campus community a chance to provide feedback on its activities through an online portal. These responses will help assess UNLPD’s engagement with campus, delivery of public safety services and candidacy for CALEA accreditation.

The information received in the portal will be used to assess the department in both the annual and four-year on-site reviews. Commission service members will assess how the department complies with commission standards on an annual basis via off site review of the department’s accreditation files.
