University staff can take a brief pause from the regular workday and dedicate time to their professional growth. Whether you are looking to navigate high-stakes meetings with ease or master the unspoken dynamics of team conflict, two upcoming interactive workshops are designed to provide practical, real-world tools to transform your workday interactions.
NSPIRE: Building Better Conversations at Work
2 to 4 p.m., June 8, Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center, Unity Room
Everyday conversations influence trust, engagement, and overall effectiveness in an organization. This strengths-based workshop, led by Jennifer Okoliko, graduate teaching assistant in Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication, is designed to help leaders and staff communicate more effectively during routine meetings, feedback discussions and high-pressure moments. Participants will dive into the narrative framework, Pause, Listen, Reflect and Respond, practice navigating realistic workplace scenarios in small groups, and collaborate on a hands-on design activity to create a visual conversation tool for ongoing team use. Register Via Bridge.
NRICH: Emotional Intelligence at Work
1:30 to 4 p.m., June 16, Nebraska East Union, Prairie Suite
What if the key to better teamwork was a deeper understanding of yourself and the people around you? Based on The Emotional Intelligence Quick Book by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves, this hands-on workshop led by Ranelle Maltas, training and technology specialist, explores the practical side of emotional intelligence. Discover the science behind why emotions hijack our thinking, learn to decode what is really driving workplace conflict, and practice responding with intention instead of reaction. Participants will expand their interpersonal toolkit through empathy-mapping exercises and leave the session with a personalized 30-day action plan and a peer accountability partner to ensure the growth sticks. Register via Bridge.
Space is limited, and staff members are encouraged to register early through the Bridge links provided above.
