Faculty, staff and students are invited to honor the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr., through a day of service on Jan. 21.
In collaboration with Prosper Lincoln and Read Aloud Lincoln, the Center for Civic Engagement at Nebraska will host the MLK Reading Challenge. Volunteers will visit 26 early childhood centers across Lincoln to read age-appropriate books centered on diversity and inclusion education. A range of books will be available thanks to a generous donation of 200 books from Follett, the company that manages the university’s bookstore.
Interested individuals can sign up to read to children for an hour.
This event is the first in a series of monthly challenges as part of the Husker Civic Challenge, a N150 program focused on giving back. Over the next year, Huskers will complete 1.5 million hours of service.
