A retirement reception for Michelle Rupiper, assistant chair and associate professor of practice in the Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies, is 3:30 to 5 p.m. April 19 at the Home Economics Building, Room 121.
Rupiper is retiring after 36 years in the early childhood field. She has served in the College of Education and Human Sciences since 1994. She served for several years as the director of the Ruth Staples Child Development Center.
She has received numerous awards over her teaching career at Nebraska including the 2007 Outstanding Lecturer Award from CEHS, the 2007 CEHS Distinguished Teaching Award and the 2011 Swanson Award for Teaching Excellence from CEHS. Rupiper is a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children and has served as president in each of its regional, state and local affiliates.
The campus community and public are invited to Rupiper’s reception in the Home Economics Building, Room 121. A special presentation will begin at 4:15 p.m., and a tour of the Ruth Staples Child Development Laboratory will begin at 5 p.m.
