“Seed: The Untold Story” opens Nov.11 at the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center. Also showing is Kelly Reichardt’s “Certain Women.”

Directed by Taggart Siegel and Jon Betz, “Seed: The Untold Story” is a documentary about protecting the food supply. The film follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000-year-old food legacy. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers and indigenous seed keepers fight to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds.

Seed: The Untold Story”, which is not rated, is showing at the Ross through Nov. 17.

Kelly Reichardt’s “Certain Women” will continue to show at the Ross through Nov. 17.

Certain Women” features Michelle Williams, Kristen Steward and Laura Dern in a film about three women striving to forge their own paths on the open plains of the American northwest. The stories of a wife and mother, lawyer, and law student intersect as the three work to define themselves.

The film, which is rated R for some language, shows Reichardt’s gift for using uncommon empathy and skill to tell stories of ordinary people.
