In advance of Veterans Day, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln will honor American military members who died while serving our nation.
The Remembrance Day National Roll Call is 12:45 to 5 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Nebraska Union Colonial Room A. Learn more about the event.
The university is among the nation’s best institutions in caring for military and veteran students.
“Nebraska is providing services that can make a difference for our student veterans and their family members,” said Darrell Everhart, director of the university’s Military and Veterans Success Center, which offers a range of veteran support services. “This is a university that cares for and supports service members and helps them achieve their education goals.”

Nebraska recently joined the ranks of top schools for veteran support services. The university jumped into the Top 25 in Military Times’ Best for Vets: Colleges 2017 rankings. Military Advanced Education and Transition’s 2017 guide to colleges and universities also designated Nebraska a Top School for following best practices in military and veteran education.
The Husker online MBA is consistently among the nation’s top programs for veterans, according to U.S. News & World Report.
Student veteran support systems kicked into high gear in late summer when Nebraska Army National Guard members were deployed to Texas to assist with recovery efforts after Hurricane Harvey.
In October, more than 30 members of the Cornhusker Marching Band participated in the 22 in 22 Challenge, a national campaign to raise awareness about military suicides and generate donations for veteran support services.
Student veteran groups from Nebraska and the University of Iowa are marching from Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, to the Huskers’ Memorial Stadium to raise awareness of military and veteran suicide. The 344 mile ruck march begins Nov. 5. The Iowa team will hand the ball off to Husker students on Nov. 19 at the Freedom Rock in Menlo, Iowa. The final march will bring the game ball to Memorial Stadium for the Husker vs. Hawkeye football game on Nov. 24. This is the second year the student veteran groups at the two universities have organized the ruck march. Learn more about the 2017 ruck march.
