The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Sheldon Museum of Art, 12th and R streets, will celebrate Nebraska’s sesquicentennial with a birthday party-themed family day from 1 to 4 p.m. July 16.
The free event will feature activities inspired by Sheldon’s collection, a musical performance by local folk duo the Time Burners, self-guided tours of outdoor sculptures and birthday cake.
Representatives from the Lux Center for the Arts, Lincoln Children’s Museum and Lincoln City Libraries’ Jane Pope Geske Heritage Room of Nebraska Authors will provide additional activities.
Visitors can explore Sheldon’s summer exhibitions “Wright Morris: Nebraska Pictures,” “nonObjectives” and “Selections from the Bertha Schaefer Collection.”
