Sammy Smith, a senior journalism major from Colorado, is a Husker who found her home in Nebraska with help from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s comprehensive student support services.
These programs, including the Center for Success and Transition, play a key role in reinforcing positive enrollment and retention trends on campus. In fact, for the fall 2024 semester, UNL announced a record-setting 86% retention rate among first-year students returning for their sophomore campaign.
In the video above, Smith, a first-generation college student, discusses how she found needed support from CAST and student organizations to pursue her passion for photography.
