The Employee Assistance Program is offering smoking cessation program. Options include group sessions, quitting with a friend or meeting individually with a counselor.

All cessation program participants will receive printed material and educational information about nicotine addiction. Individuals will learn about their specific triggers, why they smoke and develop coping strategies for stress. Areas for discussion include strategies for quitting, medications for withdrawal symptoms, and ideas for lifestyle changes to improve chances for success.

The next EAP smoking and/or tobacco cessation group will begin Sept. 25. The group will meet on Mondays over lunch, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. To register or to learn more about the program, call EAP at 402-472-3107.

Starting Jan. 1, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln will be smoke-, tobacco- and vapor-free. Learn more about this new policy.
