Xiaotian Hu, a graduate student in music, performs as the Dew Fairy while members of the UNL Symphony Orchestra play inside the pit in Kimball Recital Hall. The students were practicing for UNL Opera's presentation of Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel,” Nov. 14-16.
The classic Grimm fairy tale comes to life in Humperdinck’s lush, 19th-century romantic score. Full-orchestra performances will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 14 and 2 p.m. Nov. 16. Shortened piano-only performances (especially suited for younger children) will be at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Nov. 15. All performances are in Kimball Recital Hall.
Tickets for the full performances are $20 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Tickets for the shortened piano-only performances are $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students. Tickets must be purchased in advance online.
