For her expertise in handling accounting systems and overall excellence in customer service, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Sheila Stewart received a Kudos award from the NU Board of Regents.
The honor, presented at the board's Feb. 9 meeting, recognizes university staff members who go above and beyond in serving the university and its community.
Stewart is a senior financial accountant and has been a member of the Business and Finance team since 2014. In her accounting role, Stewart has become the university’s expert for connecting campus and state accounting systems, managing accounts receivable, and reporting/monitoring University of Nebraska Foundation funds.
“Even more important is the extraordinary manner of her professionalism, collegiality and commitment to a positive work environment, reducing misunderstandings and enhancing overall workflow,” Mike Zeleny, vice chancellor for business and finance, wrote in a nomination form. “She’s a model colleague, supervisor and servant leader who has earned the trust of her colleagues.”
The nomination, which was supported by Lacey Rohe, associate vice chancellor and controller, also credited Stewart for her mentoring of team members, ability to adapt through changes and reorganizations, and developing straight-forward solutions when issues arise.
“She’s become a campuswide, go-to resource,” Zeleny said.
