Husker football recently kicked off its 130th season with a win at Memorial Stadium. On Sept. 9, the Faculty 101 podcast will begin its third with a series of episodes from the architectural and spiritual epicenter of Nebraska Athletics.
Faculty 101 host Mary Jane Bruce will take you into the inner sanctum of the stadium, where the Center for Brain, Biology and Behavior is busy conducting research on the indicators and consequences of concussions.
Memorial Stadium also houses the Nebraska Athletic Performance Laboratory, the first in-house sports science facility in collegiate athletics. Former Nebraska football player, Olympic champion bobsledder and current engineering faculty Curt Tomasevicz will give Bruce a tour of the lab, explaining some of the science that helps Husker athletes become their best.
The first few episodes will also unroll the historical blueprints of how Memorial Stadium was built, introduce students eyeing careers in intercollegiate or professional athletics, and interrogate the expertise that goes into assessing threats and protecting Husker fans on game days.
Faculty 101 episodes will be featured here on Nebraska Today, but you can also subscribe via iTunes and Stitcher. Additional podcast delivery systems will be announced as they come online.
