Students venture to and from classes in Hamilton Hall on Aug. 26, the first day of the fall semester. The university offers UNL Reports as an option to communicate concerns on campus.

Members of the University of Nebraska–Lincoln community can use UNL Report to communicate concerns they feel need to be addressed or known.

There is a permanent link to UNL Report at the footer of all UNL.edu webpages or it also can be reached through the Nebraska app. These anonymous and confidential reports can address a variety of campus matters both good and bad, from discrimination or inappropriate behavior to acts of kindness. UNL Reports are reviewed by trained university staff and directed to the appropriate department based on topic. Individuals who wish to be contacted for follow-up, can leave contact information in the report.

UNL Report is available in the footer of every university webpage (highlighted above). The option is also available in the Nebraska app and at https://unlreport.unl.edu/.

Examples of things that could be reported include addressing an over-full trash container, a dangerous sidewalk, a faulty sprinkler head, inappropriate statements made toward others, expressing thankfulness for music from Mueller Tower, or commending a staff member for being helpful to a bewildered campus visitor looking for a building.

Along with submitting incident reports, the system includes direct links to campus resources (including the University Police Department) and mental health professionals.

UNL Report is not for emergency reports or crimes and incidents in progress; please dial 911 immediately or the university police department at 402-472-2222 (2-2222 from an on-campus phone) in any emergency such as a fire or medical crisis. Reports submitted through the service may not receive an immediate response.

Nebraska is among several higher education institutions around the nation that offer a similar reporting mechanism. At UNL, we believe that every person and every interaction matters. UNL Reports are carefully reviewed by appropriate university staff, taken seriously and often lead to heightened awareness and implementation of solutions on campus. Students, faculty and staff can learn more about UNL Report or report an incident by clicking here.

Members of the university community are also encouraged to sign up for UNL Alert, a system that issues mass notifications via text messages and emails to accounts and devices designated by subscribers. UNL Alert is reserved for announcing campus emergencies and weather-related closures.

Complete details about UNL Alert are available here. Students, instructors, and staff can register for UNL Alert or update designated devices/accounts here.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Police Department also offers updates and safety tips on X (formerly Twitter). Follow the Safety at Nebraska account here.
