The University of Nebraska State Museum and History Nebraska are partnering to present a virtual History and Science Café, “Life of an Artifact: From Dirt to Cabinet,” at 7 p.m. Sept. 17 through Zoom and Facebook Live.
Artifacts tell a great deal about the history of people from the past. But what happens after an artifact is excavated? This special event will celebrate Nebraska Archaeology Month and feature the post-excavation history of local artifacts. History Nebraska archaeologist Nolan Johnson and NU State Museum anthropology collection assistant Katelyn Trammell will discuss the path of archaeological material, including the interpretation, research, care and display of objects. The program is free.
