The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s voluntary COVID-19 Vaccine Registry is live for students, faculty and staff.
Announced June 23 by Chancellor Ronnie Green, the registry allows vaccinated Huskers to record their status, earning an exemption from university plans for regular saliva-based COVID-19 testing in the fall. Participants are also eligible for weekly prize drawings as well as grand prizes — which include (for undergraduates and graduate students) five awards worth a year of resident undergraduate tuition and fees ($9,872), and (for faculty/staff) a trip for two to watch the Husker football game in Ireland in August 2022.
The weekly drawings for smaller prizes (including meal plans, Husker gear, massages, free parking and Husker ticket packages) start July 5. Winners will be announced. A full list of prizes is available here.
All undergraduates, graduate students, faculty and staff who register by Aug. 15 will be eligible for the grand prize drawing.
The vaccine registry allows users to submit name, NUID number, preferred email, affiliation with the university, details on vaccine type and dates received, and uploading documentation. The registry is open to all students, faculty and staff who are fully vaccinated. All vaccines approved by the World Health Organization and recognized by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department are accepted for the registry and the prize drawing. Details are available in the registry.
Details on vaccination availability can be found here.
To help monitor for the virus in the fall, the university is requiring weekly saliva-based testing for all students, faculty and staff who will be active on campus. Exemptions are available and include participating in the voluntary COVID-19 vaccine registry.
In the fall semester, the university will continue to use the Safer Community app to allow individual access to campus buildings. Students, faculty and staff who do not have an exemption, must complete a first saliva-based test by Aug. 19 to ensure access for the first day of classes on Aug. 23.
Individuals who are exempt from the testing will have a continuous “Access Granted” notification on the app.
“Be prepared, Huskers — locate your vaccination cards and submit them to our registry,” Green said. “Good luck in winning one of our great prizes and thank you all for keeping our community safe.
“I can hardly wait to see our campuses full and vibrant with activity in the new academic year.”
