A retirement reception for Ellen Weissinger, emeritus senior vice chancellor of academic affairs and professor of educational administration, is 5:30 to 7 p.m. May 1 in the Van Brunt Visitors Center.
Weissinger served as senior vice chancellor of academic affairs from 2009 to April 2015. She was interim senior vice chancellor of academic affairs from Dec. 21, 2009, until the interim title was dropped on Feb. 25, 2011.
In the senior vice chancellor role, Weissinger was the university’s chief academic officer and the responsible official in the chancellor’s absence. She managed a $1 billion academic budget, oversaw eight colleges, University Libraries, Graduate Studies, Enrollment Management, Career Services, University Advising, International Engagement and Online Education.
Weissinger also served as associate dean of Teachers College and associate director of the Buros Institute for Mental Measurement.
A recipient of the university’s Distinguished Teaching Award, Weissinger has taught educational administration courses and doctoral level research methodology courses. She published more than 40 research articles with a special focus on intrinsic motivation and boredom.
