UNL’s Wind Ensemble will open its 2015-2016 concert season with a 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 performance in Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets are $5 general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens.
Developed by six students, the performance will feature a program that reflects the broad spectrum of the human condition. Inspiration was provided by an endangered species, a chanson by Ockeghem, a poem by Rilke, a private remark by Aaron Copland, an exclamation by a Buddhist monk, and a rare specimen of organum by Pérotin. Students who developed the program are Karel Husa, Kathryn Salfelder, Morton Lauridsen, Wayne Oquin, David Maslanka and Ron Nelson.
The performance will also be live webcast at http://arts.unl.edu/music/webcasts.
