Wind Ensemble presents ‘Transcendentalism’ May 1

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Wind Ensemble.

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln Wind Ensemble will perform “Transcendentalism” at 7:30 p.m. May 1 in Westbrook Music Building, Room 130. Seating is limited with overflow available in Room 119 with a simulcast on the big screen. The concert is free and open to the public.

The program includes Carter Pann’s “American Child;” Donald Grantham’s “Spangled Heavens;” Charles Ives’ “The Alcotts” from Piano Sonata No. 2, transcribed by R.E. Thurston; Scott McAllister’s “Gone;” and Ryan George’s “Acts of Congress.”

“Come join the Wind Ensemble as they say farewell to Westbrook Music Building and celebrate the end of another fruitful year,” said Carolyn Barber, the Ron and Carol Cope Professor of Music and director of bands. “Our closer alone (‘Willie for President’) is worth the trip.”
