Richard Yi, a professor of psychology and the director of the Cofrin Logan Center for Addiction Research and Treatment at the University of Kansas, will be preventing a seminar April 10.

Richard Yi will present “Environmental Contexts That Impact Intertemporal Decision-Making and Substance Misuse” at 1:30 p.m. April 10 in Oldfather Hall, Room 430G. The event is free and open to the public; no registration is required.

Yi is a professor of psychology and the director of the Cofrin Logan Center for Addiction Research and Treatment at the University of Kansas. In this seminar, he will explore the relationship between substance misuse and delay discounting—the tendency to devalue rewards that are further in the future. He will also discuss key factors that influence delay discounting.

Yi’s research uses behavioral economics to examine health-related decision-making, with a focus on the combined effects of reward valuation and the impact of time in addiction and relapse. He also investigates strategies to mitigate accelerated delay discounting in individuals with health-compromising behaviors.

This event is sponsored by the Rural Drug Addiction Research Center.
