A farewell reception honoring Mike Zeleny, vice chancellor for business and finance, will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at Morrill Hall. Remarks begin at 5 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Zeleny, a key leader at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln for three decades, was recently named senior vice president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. His last day at UNL is Sept. 2.
A native Nebraskan and two-time Husker alumnus, Zeleny has been a cornerstone of the university’s administration, shaping strategy and operations across research, finance and institutional planning. His service included more than 20 years in the Office of Research and Economic Development, where he helped drive major research growth, followed by roles as chief of staff and associate to the chancellor. As vice chancellor, he oversaw the university’s financial operations, human resources, risk management, campus police and auxiliary services.
An interim leader will be named in the coming weeks.
