Bio

Hana Waisserova is in charge of Czech Studies at UNL. She teaches courses on Czech language, culture and literature; Czech society and culture via film; Women Totalitarian Experience; Czech History and Culture and The Heart of Europe: History and Culture, an EA summer program. Her current research interests include Central and Eastern European women transnational literature and cultural memory, women totalitarian experience, women Holocaust experience, women dissidents, literary ethnography, Czech-American culture in Nebraska. She published numerous articles and book chapters. She has traveled widely in Europe, Asia, Africa, and Central America, and is much invested in promoting cultural sensitivity and global citizenship.
