Bio

Yiqi Yang is a Professor of Textiles and Biological Systems Engineering. Yang teaches courses like advanced textiles and serves as a major advisor/co-major advisor for Ph.D. and M.S. students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His research interests include green polymers and materials, biotextile engineering, and fiber and textile chemistry. His past work includes developing new bio-based fibers and textile chemicals from agricultural wastes and co-products, and cleaner productions in coloration and finishing. He works diligently with students and collaborators to find ways to create a more sustainable textile industry. In 2021, Yang received the AATCC Olney Medal for outstanding achievement in textile science. He has written hundreds of refereed journal articles and refereed conference and proceeding papers. Yang has also written one book and edited two others. He has eight patents and several patent applications. (Updated Sept. 2024)

Bio

Ozan Ciftci, Kenneth E. Morrison Distinguished Professor of Food Engineering, specializes in developing innovative green technologies for improved food quality and human health. His reseqrch aims to advance the fields of food science and food engineering, contributing valuable knowledge and technologies with the potential to reshape future food systems globally. His research program, bridging chemistry, engineering, nutrition, and health, aims to provide innovative solutions to food-related health and safety challenges that current technologies struggle to address. Recognized nationally and internationally, his lab has become a leading force in green food processing. Among several other awards, he is the recipient of the LIST International Award in Bioinnovation. (Updated November 2024.)
