The College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources will host a free 5K fun run/walk at 9 a.m. April 9 on East Campus as part of its annual CASNR Week.
The event is open to University of Nebraska-Lincoln faculty, staff, students and the community, including children with parents/guardians. Awards will be given for best costume, top male and female finisher and top master male and female – ages 40 and up – finishers.
Registration for the event is required and can be found here.
A maximum of 300 entries are being accepted on a first come, first serve basis until April 8. No sign-ups will be taken on race day. For the past few years, the fun run’s entries have filled several weeks before race day.
All participants need to pick up their race number bib and turn in their participation waiver the week prior to the fun run, at one of these locations:
• 4 to 6 p.m. April 6 at the Campus Rec Center
• 2 to 7 p.m. April 7 at the Campus Rec Center
• Noon to 5 p.m. April 8 at the Rec & Wellness Center (East Campus)
• 5:30 to 7 p.m. April 8 at the Campus Rec Center
Bib pick-up is not available the morning of the fun run.
The run/walk begins at 9 a.m. and starts and finishes at the East Campus Mall. View the course route here.
The course is relatively flat with an elevation difference of 31.5 feet and total ascent of 62 feet. It is an excellent route for all runners/walkers - beginners, experienced and anyone training for spring road races. Awards are given to top finishers, but the official times will not be recorded or posted.
This event is a cooperative project of CASNR and UNL Campus Recreation. For more information, call 402-472-8749.
