Arbor Day celebration is today

According to UNL's Bob Hendrickson, the Cottonwood tree in Maxwell Arboretum is among the top five most beautiful trees on campus.

UNL will hold an Arbor Day celebration from 1 to 2 p.m. April 23 on the northeast side of Hardin Hall. The event will include a tree planting.

Remarks will be presented by Ronnie Green, vice chancellor of the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources; and representatives from the Nebraska Forest Service, Nebraska Statewide Arboretum, Landscape Services, Agronomy and Horticulture and Friends of the Maxwell Arboretum.

Participants will have the chance to win a black cherry tree. The event is rain or shine.
