Brewing workshop is July 25

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln will hold a workshop for craft brewers on July 25 at Nebraska Innovation Campus.

The one-day workshop, “The Science Behind the Craft,” is intended for owners and employees of craft beer breweries interested in understanding the science behind the brewing process and using that information to improve beer production. Sessions will combine theory from industry experts and UNL faculty alongside laboratory exercises.

Featured speakers scheduled are: Neil Witte, training and technical support manager for Duvel USA, Boulevard Brewing and Brewery Ommegang; Joe Baumert, associate professor of food science and technology, UNL; Heather Hallen-Adams, assistant professor of food science and technology, UNL; Kara Taylor, analytical manager, White Labs, San Diego; and Robert Hutkins, professor, food science and technology, UNL.

Registration is open through July 1. Cost is $300 per person. Space is limited and all participants must pre-register to attend.
