Campus Recreation Wellness is a sponsor of the Nebraska Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics “Fuel Up with Color 5K-Race and One-Mile Kids Course Challenge. The event starts at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 28 at Holmes Lake Park, 70th and Normal streets.
The race is designed to promote physical activity while encouraging participants to have fun. The event also supports the Food Bank of Lincoln as each participant is asked to bring canned goods to the run.
Entry fees for the five-kilometer race are:
General admission — $23 through Sept. 16; $28 after Sept. 16
12 and Younger/Senior Citizens 60 and over — $18 through Sept. 16; $23 after Sept. 16.
The entry fees for the one-mile fun run and fitness challenge (open to youth age 12 and younger) are $13 through Sept. 16, and $18 after Sept. 16.
The 5K race will be chip timed. The kids’ course will not be timed. All pre-registered runners will receive a T-shirt, swag bag with healthy food, coupons and recipes, and post-race food and drink.
The 5K will be a traditional race along a course at Holmes Lake.
The kids’ course will be a “fun run” that will include five physical fitness challenges along the route. Each challenge stop will focus on a different food group.
Both races will promote the five food groups to encourage runners to “fuel up” with nutritious items and lead a healthy life.
