The UNL History Club is offering a chance for students, faculty and staff to experience a Civil War camp.
From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today (April 17), the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War re-enactors will set up Union and Confederate campsites on the green space north of the Nebraska Union.
“Students, faculty and staff will have a chance to come in and look around at the stuff and really get up close and personal with the re-enactors,” said Brittny Ofstedal, history club president.
The interactive display will be followed by a 7 p.m. presentation in the Nebraska Union. Re-enactors will give a detailed presentation on the differences in uniforms, weaponry and the daily tasks of a Civil War solider.
The event is free and open to the public.
