Data analytics workshop to host IBM leader

A Department of Computer Science and Engineering’s faculty group is hosting a data analytics workshop on March 21 on Nebraska Innovation Campus.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering’s faculty group Informatics and Algorithmic Foundations is hosting “NeDA 2016: 1st Nebraska Data Analytics Workshop” at 9 a.m. March 21 on Nebraska Innovation Campus, Conference Center Rooms A1 and A2. It is expected to conclude around 4 p.m.

The goal of this workshop is to explore collaborations for data analytics between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln CSE faculty and regional organizations. The workshop will bring together IAF group of faculty and regional organizations to discuss emerging challenges, solutions and opportunities in data analytics.

The workshop agenda includes 12 short presentations by the stakeholders sharing their experience in data analytics. In addition, Sri Shanmugasundaram, executive architect of IBM North America Analytics Center will give the keynote talk “IBM Industry Experience.”

There will also be three breakout sessions discussing issues including workforce development, technical challenges and community development.

This workshop is aimed to meet one of the long-term goals of IAF group, which is to create a dynamic environment that fosters collaboration among the stakeholders for the benefit of the state’s competitiveness in data analytics.
