Nebraska soccer will kick off the Huskers’ inaugural home season at Barbara Hibner Stadium with an Aug. 12 exhibition match against South Dakota State University.
The game begins at 7:05 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The new stadium is located on the northwest side of Nebraska Innovation Campus, at 2400 N. Antelope Valley Parkway.
Named after former Nebraska women’s director of athletics and senior woman administrator Barbara Hibner, the stadium features seating for about 2,500 spectators while offering stadium lights for the first time in a decade. The new complex is also home to the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Complex, which contains six outdoor and 12 indoor tennis courts and coaching offices.
For fans, the new facility includes concessions and restrooms, an elevated viewing deck, additional berm seating and a 1,600-square-foot kids play area scheduled to be completed with a playground and miniature soccer field in early September.
Husker soccer will also host a second free exhibition game with the University of South Dakota at 7:05 p.m. Aug. 14.
