The University Chamber Singers will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Sheldon Museum of Art as part of UNL’s First Friday events.
These small and varied mini-concerts of students from the Glenn Korff School of Music will then move toward the Lied Center for Performing Arts. Musical offerings will include a broad variety of songs and carols sung in small groups and as an ensemble in and around the center spaces between the Sheldon and Lied.
The songs will include ancient, modern carols and songs from contemporary composers, including Carol Barnett, Eric Whitacre, and Morten Lauridsen. The group will also perform a new work by Charlie Leftridge, a UNL graduate-student composer and member of the Chamber Singers.
The performance will also be a part of the E.N. Thompson Forum, which has the theme of “The Creative World” and features cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
