'Great Gatsby' plays the Lied Feb. 21

“The Great Gatsby” was set in the 1920s, the age of jazz when wealth, glamour and decadence ignited public fascination. At 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21, Montana Repertory Theatre will reignite the timeless F. Scott Fitzgerald classic in a bold new production at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Lied Center for Performing Arts.

Tickets, starting at $28, are available at http://www.liedcenter.org, the Lied Center Box Office, 301 N. 12th St., or 402-472-4747. UNL students can obtain tickets at a 50 percent discount with a valid NCard.

“ ‘The Great Gatsby’ marks one of the theatrical highlights of the Lied Center’s 25th anniversary season,” said Bill Stephan, executive director of the Lied Center. “Lied audience members will love seeing this literary masterpiece come to life through one of the most respected touring theater companies in the United States.”

Adapted for the stage by Simon Levy, the power of Fitzgerald’s narrative and the sheer beauty of his prose are captured in this haunting and heartfelt snapshot of the Roaring Twenties. Much more than simply a story of lost love, “The Great Gatsby” recreates the Jazz Age world of youth, wealth, privilege, and reckless abandon. Montana Rep will reintroduce this classic, bringing Fitzgerald’s masterpiece to a new generation of theatergoers.

One of the most dynamic and reputable touring companies in the country, Montana Repertory Theatre was established as a professional touring company in 1967. Montana Rep assembles principle actors, directors, and designers with prestigious credits, including Broadway, Off-Broadway, national tours of Broadway shows, and major regional theatre credits.
